Inclusive Runway Show on September 7 Features Three CreakyJoints Members

UPPER NYACK, NY (August 28, 2019)CreakyJoints®, a Global Healthy Living Foundation digital patient community for people with all forms of arthritis, today announces it will present the Spring/Summer 2020 Tumbler and Tipsy® by Michael Kuluva collection during New York Fashion Week. As a designer with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and CreakyJoints member, Michael is an inspiration to the arthritis community. His collections are innovative and deliberately sassy yet include easy-to-wear fabrics and fasteners, allowing them to be very wearable for people with arthritis who may experience pain and limitations when it comes to putting on their clothes. The spring/summer collection is inspired by Michael’s love of the water and will feature clothes perfect for a day on the boat or a glamorous evening at sea.

The Spring/Summer 2020 Tumbler and Tipsy® runway show will feature three CreakyJoints members. Model Charis Hill, an ankylosing spondylitis advocate, will take to the runway as will CreakyJoints member Kelly Rouba-Boyd, who lives with RA and is also 2nd Vice President of the Arthritis National Research Foundation Board of Directors. Artist Jennifer Walker’s canvases, which convey the experience of living with arthritis and chronic pain, will be prominently featured during the show’s after party. Ms. Walker lives with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, and axial spondyloarthritis. She’s a computer software engineer by day, but her passion is her art.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the Tumbler and Tipsy Show,” said Ms. Boyd, who utilizes a wheelchair and works in emergency management. “Fashion is meant to be enjoyed by everyone, and it’s refreshing that Michael is fostering inclusion by embracing models who have arthritis by featuring them in his show.”

“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Tumbler and Tipsy’s 10-year anniversary than by presenting a fully inclusive show featuring models of all ages, stages, and abilities traversing the runway in clothing meant to be fun and fashionable,” said Michael Kuluva, designer of Tumbler and Tipsy. “But fashion is my day job and like everyone else living with chronic disease, I need support and CreakyJoints is there for me. Whether I’m seeking information about a new treatment, logging my symptoms in their ArthritisPower mobile app, or participating in their monthly #CreakyChats, I know I can find the arthritis community 24/7. In many ways, this show is a celebration of my arthritis family.”
