Ankylosing Spondylitis Prognosis

A colleague reminded me of an essential truth today: “None of us know how to do this,” she said.

None of us have been through this before. There is no one right way to get through it.

There is a lot of advice. I’ve given some of it.

Every day we hear about things we should do to help ourselves be calm, stay sane, and healthy.

It is overwhelming.

So just for today, I want to remind you — and me — there is no one right way to do this. There is no correct tried-and-true path to manage a pandemic, or ourselves as we navigate it.

Be gentle with yourself. Allow yourself to be. Just be.

Be in your body and let emotions rise — and fade —  as they do.

Take the day one hour, or even one minute at a time.

Breathe.

Be in your body.

Let what you feel come — and go.

Be gentle.

Sigh. Cry.

Be grateful.

Be angry.

Let it come and go.

But above all, be gentle.
