A study involving more than 9,000 patients with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis who underwent bariatric surgery showed patients experienced a significant reduction in the severity of their condition after the procedure and related weight loss, according to a Clinical Advisor article.

Conducted by various departments at New York University Medical Center, the study found 62 percent of patients with psoriatic arthritis reported symptom improvement after surgery.

Study findings were presented at the American College of Rheumatology meeting in San Francisco.
