A EULAR study found that while osteoarthritis (OA) patients have more severe disease and physical dysfunction than rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, the discordance between patients and physicians is higher in OA, such that doctors tend to rate disease severity in OA patients lower than in RA patients. The study points to the importance of good communication between patients and doctors, and the need to change our mindset about OA being a less severe disease.
