CreakyJoints Blogger Julie Mills (and her mother Callie Hatch) were recently interviewed by journalist Nikki Siegal for East Idaho News about Julie’s rheumatoid arthritis journey. Thank you Julie for sharing your story, and for the CreakyJoints shoutout!
I’ve known Nikki Siegel for years. We grew up together, attended school together, went to church together, and graduated together. One day I had a message in my Facebook inbox from her. She had been doing some freelance writing for East Idaho News and wanted to do a piece on me and my story being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis as well as my decision to start writing. I was nervous at first. Talking flat out about this to a journalist would publicize this more than I had imagined. But I also knew that it could be really beneficial and helpful to others who maybe needed to hear my story that hadn’t. I said yes.
She came over to my house one afternoon and we sat down on the couch and talked. It was probably a good hour of her asking questions and me answering. It felt so good to tell my story from the beginning and really express myself. I am so happy that she also contacted my mother so that she could get her angle as well. I am so thankful for this experience and am so happy and pleased with the way that Nikki told my story. You can view it here.
Thank you thank you thank you, for sharing this journey with me, and allowing me to tell my story.
