Prednisone, in spite of its wide range of side effects, has been considered a life saver for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis and other chronic inflammatory diseases and a new a low-dose, time-released version is now available in the U.S.
Haddad: “It’s almost a smart Prednisone”
Doctor Richard Haddad, a Rheumatologist in Red Bank, New Jersey says this newer formulation is taken at bedtime and releases a dose in the middle of the night so that patients don’t wake up in the morning with stiff joints and in excruciating pain:
Haddad: “I routinely prescribe Rayos to my patients who are on chronic steroids who I feel could taper the dose of Prednisone if it were given at the right time”
However, it is Prednisone and still has side effects so talk to your doctor.
