Welcome to Poet’s Corner (& Artists Too) ~ Issue #26

From Our Editor:

I hope you have all managed to wind down after all the holiday festivities. As we launch our 3rd year, I am hoping for even greater things to transpire, as we will continue to feature special guests.

We start off with one of CreakyJoints most popular featured bloggers, Arthritic Chick, who will be sharing a variety of talents with us.

If you are someone who lives with a chronic illness and would be interested in being featured as a special guest, please contact me at [email protected].

I hope you enjoy, what we have in store for you.

Editor’s Note: Arthritic Chick  ~  Our special guest Arthritic Chick shares her bio:

I’m Arthritic Chick.  I have several forms of arthritis, rheumatoid, lupus, Sjogren’s, undifferentiated spondylitis…and it definitely makes life interesting!  Once upon a time I spent most of my free time in the gym, but I’ve had to adapt as my disease progressed.  So I reacquainted myself with my first love – writing.  Neglected for many years, it’s now a big part of my life again.

Fun fact:  I’m a brown belt in karate.

Untitled Poem

Torn away from true
torn away from true
I saw an image of you
a moment forgotten
unimportant…and yet often
hidden and denied
I’m lonely…and I’ve plied
myself away from the truth
away from my youth
far, far away from you…
torn away from true

Arthritic Chick

Editor’s Note: Stephanie Wood

Stephanie Wood is an amateur photographer, who does not allow her chronic illness to get in the way of creativity. Here, she shares another of her wonderful photographs, which she describes a combination of hot tea and sunshine in a cold house. This shot was not planned.

Alone

Stranded in my mind space

I’m nobody’s pretty face

Nobody’s muse, no body cries, nothing here to fill my mind

No one here to even try

Oh won’t you leave me alone

Why won’t the pain ever go

You say you know me but you don’t

Oh won’t you leave me alone

I’m safe in introspection

But I’m losing my direction

I’m losing ground, I’m losing speed, why can’t I lose my memories?

Remember me, remember me…

Oh won’t you leave me alone

Why won’t the pain ever go

You say you care but you don’t know

Oh won’t you leave me alone

I want to be the old me

I want you just to hold me

I want the life I used to know I want a heart that’s strong and gold

I want the pain to let me go

Oh won’t you leave me alone

Don’t you tell me that you know

You say you feel my pain, but you don’t

Oh won’t you leave me alone.

Brenda on Brenda:

We have a simplistic, but powerful message to share. Life is not always easy, but it can still be good, as is illustrated here in this installment of Trevor’s Barks of Gold.
