It hasn’t been such a hot week. I have been thinking about my health for a long, long time – and lately I have wondered which comes first? Getting better or exercising. It’s a difficult decision because on the one hand, I know that going to the gym is a must when it comes to keeping my arthritis in check. But on the other hand: everything hurts. Like a lot. So where does that leave me today? Or tomorrow for that matter? I have been quietly letting this so-called flare (which is what I assume it is) pass for the last week or so. It’s been difficult letting every day go by without even the thought of going to the gym crossing my mind. On days like yesterday that was a total impossibility. Unless of course once I got there I was met by a cortisone shot, a tequila shot, or a .357 shot. Or all three.
With any luck this cloud will pass and I’ll be back in action in a few days. In the meantime it has been lots of comfort foods – despite my pledge to eat lots of healthy food this week – until I feel better. I figured that my back may be killing, my knees may be aching, and my hands may not be working well…but the pasta and meat sauce sure hit the spot.
I never thought I’d say this: I can’t wait to get back to the gym.
